Star date July 2007, New Haven enacts a resident ID card which is made available to all New Haven residents regardless of their immigration status. The database containnig all names are requested through an FOI request by the Journalist Chris Powell and He-who-shall-not-be-named aka Dustin Gold (pictured at left). The matter is taken to the states Freedom of Information Commission and a conclusion was just offered.
This sets an important precedent in that it helps pave the way for other cities (hint, hint, Hartford) to look into the feasibility of such a card.
