Luis - we are called innocent and naive by most politicians because we really believe that working for the good of the city is what people in office are doing there. Peace guy. JW

I'm a big fan of Ed Vargas. He's someone I've looked up to since seeing him walk the walk and talk the talk as head of the teachers Union in Hartford. He's an excellent chess player and a better than average guitarist. The above should lead anyone to conclude that I would not be able to look at this race with an objective eye.

Fonfara has been nothing but accommodating to me. He has made himself available to me for any advice (which I have not taken him up on) and I guess is an all around a nice guy.

As co-owner of La Paloma Sabanera, I was not loving Fonfara due to his help in making our electric bill go through the roof (which definitely contributed to us eventually closing) but policy-wise what I've heard has been nothing but positive regarding his support for progressive causes.

I tend to be a huge advocate of term limits (although I have had good conversations with locals lately to make me think twice) and that alone would make me go toward Vargas.

Working Families will most likely endorse Fonfara. So, I'll be experiencing my first mini-break with them as far as these endorsement thingys go.

I must say that I'm somewhat disappointed in the fact that no Latino political leader has come out and endorsed Vargas. It's a part of the Hartford political landscape that I'll never get used to. Where you have good reasons to support someone, but are afraid to endorse them due to eventual "revenge" from the incumbent once s/he wins.

Aren't elected officials supposed to throw all that garbage out the window once the elections are over and work together for the good of the city? I don't know...city hall will eventually eat me up and spit me out, but until that time, I hope not to lose my dignity..at least not too much.
