Well, you can check out The Hartford Guardian.com.

It used to be a quarterly publication but it's online, daily now.

I like what it's doing. And it used to cover the NorthEnd when it was in print. I suspect they will still do so.

BTW, love your site, man.

Hi there,
My name is Freddie McInerney and I work for TheaterWorks in Hartford. We run a gathering downtown every Monday evening from 5:30-7:30....we loosely call ourselves the Pearl Street League. Bin 228 comes by and brings wine and cheese. Its free, its fun, its casual.

This coming Monday the 20th we'd like to focus on Blogs. I wouldn't exactly call this a Battle of the Blogs because we really are a happy group but we thought it would be fun to pull a bunch of bloggers together to help educate all of us about all of you. It seems like the blogs are the place where it all happens. We also have a tantalizing tidbit to reveal about our presence in downtown. So! We all need good news….hope you can join us!

Let me know if you can make it
Thanks
Freddie

PS Please pass the invite on to all!

My name is Barbara J. Ruhe, I am running in the First District for the State Senate. This seat has been occupied by John Fonfara for the past 12 years--before that it was Bill DiBella. There has not been a challenger in this race for a number of years. Why? The registration is very lopsided and the split of the district between Hartford/Wethersfield has made it challenging to find some one to make a credible run. This election cycle is the debut of public financing. The goal of public financing is to get more people both voters and candidates involved. While I have been in involved in local and state politics for many years I have never before run for office--I do have my moments of wondering what possessed me to do this--seriously what possessed me is a belief that a two party system is vital, what is going on in local and state government is distressing and I am beyond furious at DCF. (In my day job I practice Family Law with my youngest brother and "advocate for children and the grownups who love them" who become entangled in DCF's web.) I believe government should be open, responsive and practical. We have too many layers of bureaucracy, not enough transparency and too little investment in what I consider core services--services that positively affect people--we buy too many lights for football fields and don't design services that actually work to enhance the public good. At the local and state level when there is talk or heaven forbid action to cut costs, the costs that get cut are not the wasteful costs, but the costs that get folks upset.

please visit my web site www.RuheForChange.com e-mail me if you have questions

I look forward to hearing from you.
