da Hood gets a new Playscape...

clorindaThe City of Hartford officially dedicated a brand spanking new playscape at Lozada Park in the City’s Clay Hill Section.  If you’ve never heard of Lozada Park, no worries, you’re not alone.  Located on Seyms Street, the park is smack dab in the middle of what some call the most dangerous neighborhood in the city, hence, not many things are in the area to make you wanna go there.  I, on the other hand practically grew up in that neighborhood and was happy to go back for such a happy event.  In fact, this thoroughly oppressed neighborhood was, at least for an hour, the center of the political universe in Hartford today with a grand total of six politicians (1 Mayor, 2 Councilpeople, 2 Rep’s, and 1 Senator) making their way to the park. The Best Weekend EVER….

I normally do not use this space to advertise/promote/highlight things that I personally am involved with.  Seems kinda unfair so it’s my own type of self censureship.  Normally I try to highlight good things in the city as well as complaining about things that I feel might not be for the overall goodness of our fair city.

Well, this weekend I will be involved with 3 events that are soooo kick@$$ that not even my own crappy sense of fairness can stop it.  Yes people, I now give to you (drum roll) THE BEST WEEKEND EVER!!!

Non-writers Block…

“People, I serve with some good writers: I know good writers; Good writers are friends of mine. People, I’m no good writer.”

In the infamously mis-quoted words of Senator Lloyd Bentson, I implore to you, my wonderful reading public, to bear with me while I get some sort of motivation to get back in the spirit of things.  Writing about the wonderful contradictions that society lays before me seems like an easy task.  Goto work, listen to the local gossip or, here’s a thought, sit in on one meeting, and I have the makings of the ultimate local municipal drama with all the intrigue of an intriguely-filled best seller and the drama of a similarly drama-filled favorite (hey, I warned you I was tapped.)  Yet nada has managed to come out.
